Day by Day Program for 6 Days Tanzania Camping Safari

Day 1 : Arusha to Tarangire National Park

The day begins with a game drive in Tarangire National Park followed by a picnic lunch.
The park is mostly covered by Acacia woodlands and giant African Baobab trees, with large swampy areas to the south. During Tanzania’s dry season, both the river and swamps attract wild animals. Elephant herds are reputedly found in Tarangire National Park.
Also found here are the Greater Kudu, the Fringed-eared Oryx, and a few Ashy Starlings

Day 2 : Karatu to Serengeti National Park

The next day, we travel to the Serengeti National Park via Karatu and Ngorongoro Conservation Area, through beautiful, high-lying farmland. After leaving the mountains behind, we descend into the heart of Africa, the Serengeti National Park, a vast expanse of plains that extend into infinity.

Our first stop is the Seronera area in the central park, one of the most abundant wildlife habitats in the Serengeti, which is home to the Seronera River, which provides the area with a valuable source of water, thus drawing wildlife from all over the Serengeti.

Day 3 : Full Day at Serengeti National Park

The entire day is dedicated to game viewing in the Serengeti National Park. The areas that you visit will depend upon where the migrating herds are. Predators usually follow closely behind the trekking animals and include lions, leopards (in the acacia trees) and cheetahs. During the short rainy season in November and December, the herds move from the hills in the north to the plains in the south. During the longer rainy season from April to June, they return up north. As the migration is completely dependent on the yearly rainfalls, the location of the herds may vary from year to year but your guide will know where to locate the animals and where to see them best.

If you like to watch wildlife from another perspective, we recommend that you go on a balloon safari. It is an amazing experience to drift silently above the plains with herds of wildlife.

Day 4 : Serengeti National Park to Ngorongoro

Today you continue your safari in the Serengeti National Park. Its stunning landscape can be seen in some of the most impressive nature documentaries. The endless plains and abundance of wildlife are unsurpassed. It is a true spectacle and impressive to watch millions of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles thunder across the endless plains of the Serengeti. Together with your private guide, you will be looking for the herds across the plains. Apart from the migratory animals, you will also get to see lots of other animals like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and many more. Expect to be impressed by the natural beauty of Africa’s most famous park.

Later on drive back to Ngorongoro Area for Dinner and Overnight.

Day 5 : Ngorongoro Crater to Karatu

After breakfast, you will embark on a game drive within the crater. There are a lot of animals in the Ngorongoro Crater. Some of Tanzania’s last remaining black rhinos can be found in the crater, which is home to an estimated 30,000 animals. Among the animals that live in the crater are herds of wildebeest, zebras, buffaloes, elands, warthogs, hippopotami, and giant African elephants. Wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthogs, warthogs, and hippos have grazing grounds in this crater throughout the year. This scenic national park is also known for its huge population of predators, including lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and leopards.
Later on drive to karatu for Dinner and Overnight at Fig Tree Campsite

Day 6 : Lake Manyara to Arusha

Breakfast in the morning, followed by a game drive at Lake Manyara. This park is home to many species of wildlife, including some of Africa’s largest elephant populations, lions which climb trees, zebras, buffalos, giraffes, baboons, warthogs, and flocks of flamingos attracted by the lake’s algae.
Later on drive back to Arusha for Overnight or Drop-off at the Airport

Your Safari Questions Answered

Every unforgettable Tanzania safari begins with a question. Whether you’re planning a short safari in Tanzania or exploring our Northern Circuit safari packages, we’re here to help you travel with confidence and return home with incredible wildlife memories.

What is a camping safari?

A camping safari is an immersive wildlife experience where you stay in tents inside or near national parks, bringing you closer to nature while still enjoying guided game drives and essential comforts.

Yes, camping safaris are safe. Campsites are designated and your guide and camp crew are trained to ensure safety at all times. Wildlife may be nearby, but precautions are always in place.

Most safaris use spacious dome or safari tents with comfortable sleeping arrangements such as mattresses, sleeping bags, or camp beds.

Yes, most travelers need a visa to enter Tanzania.

Visa on Arrival → Available for many nationalities at airports and borders
E-Visa → Can be obtained online before travel (recommended for faster entry)
Cost → $50 for most nationalities, $100 for U.S. citizens

Absolutely. All our safaris are fully customizable, and adding extra nights in Serengeti National Park is highly recommended if your schedule allows.

Why Add Extra Nights?
More time to track lions, leopards, and cheetahs

  • Increased chances of witnessing the Great Migration (seasonal)
  • A more relaxed pace with extended game drives
  • Opportunity to explore different regions (Central, Western, or Northern Serengeti)

Let us know your travel dates and total number of days available, and we will design the perfect Serengeti extension tailored to you.

Think lightweight, breathable, and neutral-colored clothing. Include:

  • Long-sleeved shirts & pants (for sun and insects)
  • A warm jacket (early mornings can be chilly)
  • Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
  • Binoculars and a camera
  • Comfortable walking shoes
Luggage Restrictions for Domestic Flights

Most safari airlines in Tanzania operate small aircraft with limited luggage space, so passengers must follow strict baggage rules.

Typical luggage allowance:

  • 15 kg (33 lbs) total luggage per person
  • This includes carry-on and checked luggage combined
  • Soft-sided duffel bags are required

Hard suitcases are usually not allowed because they do not fit easily in small aircraft compartments.

Recommended Luggage Type

The best luggage for safari flights is:

  • Soft duffel bag
  • Lightweight travel bag
  • Flexible material

These bags are easier to load into bush planes and safari vehicles.

We use 4×4 Toyota Land Cruisers prepared for tough routes. These vehicles have pop-up roof hatches for 360-degree game viewing, a cooler box to keep drinks cold, VHF radios for communication, and electrical outlets to charge electronic gadgets.

To preserve the unspoiled safari experience, Wi-Fi is not provided in the vehicles unless required, enabling complete absorption in your surroundings. Every camp and lodge has Wi-Fi. Our cars are inspected by mechanics after each safari to guarantee they are in excellent condition.

Of course! We can easily set up your flight to Zanzibar (ZNZ) from a mainland park airstrip (such as Seronera or Manyara).
