  • Zanzibar Island Beach Holidays

Zanzibar Island is one of the most popular tropical holiday spots in Africa for beach goers. The Indian Ocean’s warm waters surround Zanzibar Island, which sits off the coast of Tanzania. It has white sandy beaches that are soft, clear blue seas, palm palms that sway, and a lively Swahili culture. The island is part of the gorgeous Zanzibar Archipelago. It’s a terrific spot to relax, have fun, learn about history, and stay at a fancy beach resort.

Zanzibar is a tropical paradise that gives tourists a beach holiday they will never forget. The beaches on the island are great for resting and taking in the sights and sounds of nature. This is true whether you’re on your honeymoon, a family holiday, or just want to get away after a safari in Tanzania.

Beach areas

Beaches in the East of Zanzibar

The beaches on Zanzibar’s east coast are generally highly beautiful and picturesque. But the tides here fall down a lot, which means that swimming might be problematic in some locations when the tide is low. There may also be seaweed on certain beaches in the east, especially those farther south. You can still notice rubbish on the beach at certain periods of the year, notably between December and February. Many resorts and lodges clean the beaches every day when there isn’t much trash. There are mangrove woods along the edge of Chwaka Bay. This can affect the quality of the water and sand in the area.

Beaches in the north and northwest sides of Zanzibar

The beaches in the north and northwest have less shift in the tides, thus they are wonderful locations to swim all day. These places are also some of the most popular and busy on the island, especially around Nungwi, because the weather is so nice. Tides still change the beaches on the northern coast, although not as dramatically as they do on the east coast.

Beaches in the southwest of Zanzibar

Most of the southwest coast of Zanzibar is made up of coral cliffs, not lengthy sandy beaches. There are a few tiny sandy bays, nevertheless. This is an excellent spot to swim, snorkel, and dive. You can do a lot of fun things in the water here, but the greatest snorkeling and diving areas on the island are on the eastern side of Zanzibar, near Mnemba Atoll.
