Arusha National Park, located 37 kilometers from Arusha city, is a stunning and compact national park in Tanzania. The park features walking safaris, canoeing on Momella Lakes, and views of Mount Meru. Visitors can also see flamingos, giraffes, colobus monkeys, and a unique pre- or post-Kilimanjaro activity. The park’s main features include rocky Mount Meru, highland montane forest, Momela Lakes, and the Ngurdoto Crater. On clear days, Mt. Kilimanjaro can be seen from various spots within the park. The park is home to about 400 different kinds of birds, including Eurasian migrants, which are visible from October to April. The park offers a unique combination of game drives and nature walks, with the most prevalent creatures being Abyssinian black and white colobus monkeys, vervet monkeys, red forest duikers, hippos, giraffes, buffaloes, bushbucks, and leopards.

Best Time to visit Arusha National Park

Game watching is greatest during the dry season, which runs from June to October.

The park is great for birdwatching all year, but especially between November and April, when migrating species from Europe and North Africa visit and indigenous birds exhibit their breeding plumage.
