A Kilimanjaro day trip to Mandara Hut is the ideal substitute if climbing Africa’s tallest peak sounds thrilling but you don’t have time for a full hike. You may enjoy the splendor of Mount Kilimanjaro without committing to a multi-day climb with this one-day excursion.
At 5,895 meters, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest peak in Africa. The Mandara Hut day trek provides an opportunity to explore the lower slopes and lush jungle in a matter of hours, whereas most climbs take five to nine days.
This trek is one of the easiest hiking routes on the mountain as it follows the well-liked Marangu Route, also referred to as the “Coca-Cola Route.”
Itinerary For Kilimanjaro Day Trip to Mandara Hut
We’ll leave at 7:00 a.m. for the Marangu Gate. You’ll start your ascent through deep forest along a brook. The climb up the mountain and back down takes 7-8 hours and covers a distance of around 16 kilometers.
The first stage of the climb leads you to Mandara Hut, which is 2700 metres above sea level. You will have the opportunity to observe a wide variety of flora and animals, including bird species and primates such as the Black and White Colobus monkey and the tree Hyrax.
At 1:30 p.m., you’ll enjoy a great lunch at the Mandara Hut, where you can take in the stunning scenery. As you descend the mountain, take a little trek to the rim of Maundi Crater. It is a volcanic vent remnant that, on a clear day, provides spectacular views of Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks.
