The Hadzabe Tribe and Our Adventure
Prepare yourself for an amazing, up-close encounter with one of the planet’s remaining hunter-gatherer groups! Here is a sneak peek at some of the incredible events you will be attending:
Hunting Adventure at Sunrise:
Joining the Hadza men as they go out with their bows and arrows at approximately 7 AM marks the beginning of your day. As you travel with them, you’ll discover how they hunt and follow antelope and birds. It really puts your patience and talent to the test! Usually, the search lasts two to four hours. They’ll start a fire there for a new barbeque if they succeed. A sample will be served to you; it’s a true honor, but you are free to gently reject if you so choose.
With the Hadza Women, foraging:
This is a great opportunity to get to know the tribe’s ladies. You will accompany them as they dig for tubers and seek for tasty fruits and wild berries. They really value your assistance in picking berries, and it’s a great way to honor them and be a part of their everyday lives. Watch for wild honey, particularly in the wet season!
Develop Your Bow and Arrow Shooting Skills
The Hadza are very talented archers who like imparting their skills to others! You will learn how to utilize their traditional bow and arrow in an interesting class. Try your luck and give it a go; it’s lot more enjoyable than it seems!
Customary Dancing and Festivities
The Hadza use dancing and music to show their happiness. You will be asked to participate in a traditional dance as your tour comes to an end. Stories of bravery, life, and the prey they hunt are frequently told in the songs. It’s a lovely and inspiring way to spend the day with each other.
See the Datoga Tribe, a nearby tribe
A visit to the Datoga people, who live nearby, will complete your cultural experience. This tribe offers a unique glimpse into their way of life and is renowned for its talented pastoralists and artists.
The Blacksmiths: Admire as Datoga blacksmiths melt metal using age-old methods to create exquisite jewelry, knives, spears, and arrowheads. It’s like to traveling back in time!
Family Life: A Datoga family will welcome you into their house. Due to their customary polygamy, a husband and his wives are often present in a family. The ladies would be happy to show you their way of life and are renowned for their lovely, amiable grins. You may even get the opportunity to attempt the age-old and entertaining task of grinding corn with stones!
A unique chance to not only see but also fully engage with the ancient traditions of Tanzania’s Lake Eyasi area is provided by this two-day excursion. We are very excited that you will love it!
